Jajpur, Sept 19: Three government school teachers in Jajpur district have been suspended for submitting fake OTET (Odisha Teacher’s Eligibility Test) certificates, said an official.
Harihar Dalei, Block Education Officer (BEO), Barachana, has placed the three accused- Aniya Kumar Baral of Teligada primary school, Jayanti Sahoo of Akarabad primary school and Raziya Sultana of Charinangal primary school – under suspension for submitting fake certificates to get jobs and increments.
“The three teachers have been placed under suspension following the pending of departmental proceedings against them for submission of fake OTET certificates,” an official order of the BEO office said on Friday.
Ranjan Kumar Giri, District Education Officer (DEO) said that they have filed FIRs against the accused teachers in the Barachana police station.
“We have stopped their salary and started departmental proceedings against them as per the government rule,” he said.
According to the sources, Abhimanyu Barik, an activist, field a RTI to get information about the teachers employed in government schools of Barachana, their qualifications and related certificates.
He was told that some teachers were working in government schools by submitting fake documents, following which he drew the attention of the DEO towards these illegal postings in March this year.
Based on the allegation, Ranjan Kumar Giri, DEO, conducted an investigation and found three fraudulent cases in Barachana elementary schools. The three teachers also got increments based on their forged OTET certificates, according to the probe.
