Third woman associate of notorious criminal Md Sakil arrested

Cuttack, Oct 25: Police today arrested another woman associate of Md Sakil, a notorious criminal currently lodged at Choudwar Circle Jail. Police said that the accused identified as Manashi Nayak was in touch with Sakil and was also helping his associates for money extortion from businessmen in the city. Police said that she came in contact with Sakil in 2014 while being lodged in Choudwar jail in connection with a case of murder. Earlier, police had two women associates of Sakil including a girl studying law at a national university for their links with him. The law student Nasrin Khan, a resident of Kesharpur area in the city had also met Sakil at the jail. Police said that Sakil was arrested for allegedly demanding extortion of Rs 10 lakh from a businessman in December. “We are further investigating to identify others having close links with Sakil,” said a police official.
