Tension erupts between two groups during Maa Kali Idol immersion in Cuttack

Cuttack, Nov 4: At least five to six persons were injured in a scuffle between two groups during Maa Kali idol immersion near Royal Garden in Chandini Chowk on Sunday.
According to police sources, an argument broke out when a group of youths from Muhammadiya Bazaar were returning from an idol immersion and encountered youths from Hasinabag in Chandini Chowk. Following the heated exchange, both groups resorted to stone-pelting and threw glass bottles at each other. During the skirmish, a shop was damaged, and three motorcycles were vandalised.
Although the exact cause of the conflict remains unknown, Lalbag Police have begun efforts to apprehend those involved in the altercation.
In a separate incident, violence erupted near Machhua Bazaar LIC Padia during an idol procession, resulting in the injury of a youth from the College Square Puja Committee.
Reports indicate that he was attacked with a sharp weapon and has since been admitted to SCB Medical College for treatment. Several youths are currently detained at Manglabag Police Station for questioning regarding the incident.
