Bhubaneswar, June 30: Tension flared at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office on Monday following an alleged assault on Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu. The incident reportedly occurred during a grievance hearing, prompting a strong reaction from office staff, who launched a sit-in protest demanding action. Police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order.
Sources said the incident took place when Sahu was addressing complaints from corporators as part of the official grievance redressal process. During the session, around five to six associates of a corporator allegedly stormed into his chamber, attempted to forcibly remove him, and physically assaulted him.
The matter was immediately reported to Kharavelnagar Police Station. Police teams rushed to the spot and have begun examining CCTV footage from the office premises.
A senior police official confirmed that efforts are underway to identify the attackers and assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
