Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: Telgu play ‘Madhuparkallu’ brought tears to audience which was staged here at Ravindra Mandap last evening. The play was played at the 23rd Kalinga Natya Mahotsav, a national level multi-lingual play initiative by Bhubaneswar based cultural organisation Satabdira Kalaka. Aurovind Arts of Vijaywada played the nationally famed social drama ‘Madhuparkalu’ in Telgu. A group of seasoned artists exhibited the tragic scene of a traditional weaver ‘Puttana’ to answer a social responsibility that’s handed down from generation to generation, with their humane touch. The scenes ran with the theme of a mere piece of turmeric-coloured cloth named ‘Madhuparkallu’ that is bestowed to a bride at her marriage. Puttana, at the climax paid off much more than what he lost to spare for the nuptial ‘Madhuparkallu’. The play winded up its story when the groom showed his benevolence over the helplessness of Puttana. Houseful spectators enjoyed the socially relevant play scripted by Bhaluri Prashad and directed by Gangotree Sai.
