Teacher arrested in Odisha for possessing DA worth Rs 4.16 crore

Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: The Vigilance Directorate today arrested Sisir Semeli, a teacher at the Block Education Office (BEO) in Rayagada for possessing assets disproportionate to his income. Vigilance sleuths on Saturday have conducted raids on Semili’s properties on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The anti-corruption wing has traced properties worth Rs 4.73 crore including cash of Rs 2.88 lakh, bank deposits worth Rs 22.34 lakh and gold ornaments weighing 408 grams. “After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Semili were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 4.16 crore which constituted 307% of his known sources of income,” said an official.
