Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: At a time when the Millet Mission, Odisha’s endeavour to restore millet cultivation across the state gains momentum, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Sunday urged the people to offer millet bhogs before Maa Laxmi on the occasion of ‘Margasira Manabasa’ this year.
Gracing an International Symposium on ‘Shree Anna and Forgotten Foods’ (ISSFF) the CM said, “Our mothers and sisters should observe the first ‘Manabasa Gurubara’ of this month of ‘Margasira’ with offering millet before the Goddess Lakshmi and serve food prepared from millet to their kith & kin.”
Majhi also requested the locals to offer food, laddu and pudding prepared from the whole grains of millet before Goddess Lakshmi as Prasad on the ‘Manabasa Gurubara’ coming in the next week.
This will be a big boost for retrieving the wholesome and staple food grain millet, he added.
The Chief Minister also sought community participation to retrieve typical Odia recipes and almost forgotten dishes, traditional cakes with indigenous & exclusive Odia menus those were anciently prevalent almost across the state.
