Bhubaneswar, August 9: The Supreme Court collegium has recommended transfers of two judges from Orissa High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on August 6, has recommended the transfer of Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak and Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra of the Orissa High Court.

According to the official statement, Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak (Parent High Court: Gauhati) has been recommended for transfer from the Orissa High Court to the Gujarat High Court.

Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra has been recommended for transfer from the Orissa High Court to the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The recommendations were made as part of the Collegium’s regular exercise of recommending transfers of High Court judges.

Against the sanctioned strength of 33 judges, Orissa High Court is currently operating with 17 judges, including the Chief Justice. With the transfer of two judges, the tally will come down to 15.

Justice Pathak was Standing Counsel of Education Department, Government of Assam since February 2005 as well as Standing Counsel of Gauhati High Court till appointment as Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court. He was elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on May 22 2013 and became a permanent Judge w.e.f. 12.11.2018.

On transfer, he is serving as a Judge of the High Court of Orissa since July 21, 2025.

Prior to the appointment of a judge, Justice Mohapatra was also serving as Additional Standing Counsel for Odisha as well as Orissa Public Service Commission and advocate for Central Cooperative Banks Limited., Keonjhar, National Institute of Open Schooling under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, Bank of Baroda etc.

He was elevated as Judge of the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015.
