Bhubaneswar, May 8: Renowned international sand artist and member of the Srimandir Management Committee, Sudarshan Pattnaik, have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention in the ongoing controversy regarding the recognition of the Digha Temple as a ‘Dham.’
In his letter, Pattnaik emphasized the importance of preserving long-established religious traditions, particularly highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of temples like the Jagannath Temple in Puri, which has long been regarded as a ‘Dham.’
He expressed concerns that recognizing Digha as a ‘Dham’ could disturb the sentiments of Jagannath devotees and undermine the sanctity of temples that have been held in reverence for centuries.
Pattnaik urged PM Modi to intervene in the matter and ensure that any new temple designations are in line with traditional practices and respect the religious sensitivities of devotees.
His appeal calls for careful consideration and respect for the emotional well-being of the faithful when making decisions that affect the spiritual landscape of the region.
