Success of IMS and SUM Hospital; 50 percent burnt 3-year child Chinmay gets new lease of life

Bhubaneswar, 27/12: Three year old child Chinmay Rana has got a new lease of life. His body was burnt by 50 percent. But thanks to the care and treatment in IMS and SUM Hospital here, the boy has recovered fully after the skin grafting. The parents of the boy have thanked the hospital authorities for this feat. Chinmay of Abhimanpur in Cuttack district was badly injured when hot milk fell on his body while playing. He had sustained 50 percent burn injuries on his back, belly and right leg. The family members rushed Chinmay, who was writhing in pain, to Dhenkanal district headquarter hospital and he was later shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack for further treatment. However, as he suffered from infection at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, he was admitted in the plastic surgery department of the IMS and SUM Hospital. Meanwhile, the boy has completely recovered, thanks to the treatment of the doctors and care of the nurses. Dr M Lopamudra of the Burn department of IMS and SUM Hospital said "the treatment of Chinmay was a really a challenge". He had undergone skin transplantation on the burnt back, belly and right hand. Skin from his thigh was grafted on the burnt parts. Now, the boy has fully cured.
