STF seizes huge quantities of stolen hard coke, ferro chrome and iron pellets

Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch today seized seize 230 tons of stolen hard coke, five tons ferro chrome, three tons iron pellets, 45 tons of steam coke, seven tons iron rod, four trucks loaded with steam coke and iron pellets and arrested one person in this connection. Officials said that raids were conducted at different places of Dhenkanal district about illegal transportation and storage of stolen hard coke, charge chrome and iron pellets by mafias. “During the raid the team apprehended five persons who could not produce any valid authority in support of transportation and storage of the materials. We have seized two JCBs and a Hywa vehicle. Further investigation in the case is continuing,” said an official. The STF has taken strong action against such organized racket of cargo theft in various districts of Odisha this year so far and has seized huge quantity of hard coke (262 tons), ferro chrome (216 MT) and coal (150 tons). The agency has also seized 23 heavy vehicles including JCBs while 28 persons have also been arrested.
