Cuttack, Jan 23: The ensuing statuesque Of the Orissa High court has put the promotion of 17 Assistant Conservators of forest (ACF) on hold. Secretary of Forest and Environment Mona Sharma has appraised the current status report before the High court.
Forest and Environment Secretary Mona had been summoned by the Orissa High court on the petition of Biraj Mohan Mohanty. Biraj had appealed that 17 ACF’s had been illegally promoted to Divisional Forest Officers those are junior to him. While he was deprived of getting promoted in spite of all eligibility.
Hearing the case, the High Court had ordered statuesque on the promotion. But, the government rejected the petition of Biraj saying unadmissible. Challenging the government, Biraj filed another petition citing contempt to court. On the second petition The High court passed order to hold the promotion till the final order.In the mean time, the Forest department published the provisional list of the 17 promotees. Considering it a bit contempt, the High Court summoned the concerned Secretary Mona Sharma to appear personally.
On January 22, Mona appeared before the division Bench comprising Justice Sanju Panda and Justice S K Panigrahi through video conference. She appraised the court regarding the prevalence of statuesque on the promotion process.
