State Budget today

Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the annual budget for the 2019-20 financial year (FY) today in the State Assembly. This will be first full Budget of the Naveen Patnaik Government after it voted to power for fifth straight term. Last week, the state Council of Ministers headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved an annual budget of more than Rs 1.38 lakh crore for the 2019-20 FY. Though the details of the budget were not disclosed, cyclone Fani restoration works, KALIA and Mission Shakti programmes may get priority in the annual budget. Earlier, former Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera presented Rs 56,921 crore as vote-on-account for four months of the current fiscal (April-July period) before the general election.
