Major Boost for India as Bumrah Declares Fitness
In a significant and welcome development for Indian cricket, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly confirmed his availability for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. His fitness had been a subject of speculation after he was rested during the latter half of the recent Test series against England, but he has now informed the selectors that he is ready for selection.
Concerns Put to Rest
Bumrah's workload was carefully managed during the five-match Test series in England, leading to concerns that he might have sustained another injury. However, according to an Indian Express report, a source has confirmed that Bumrah is fit and available. The BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, is scheduled to meet next week to finalize the squad, with an official announcement expected on August 19.
Suryakumar Yadav Also Clears Fitness Test
There is more good news for the Indian team, as T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has also successfully cleared his fitness assessment. The dynamic batsman underwent surgery for a sports hernia in June and has been recovering at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. A BCCI official confirmed that he has passed the mandatory fitness tests required before a player can return to action.
With both key players now fit, the selection committee will have a full-strength pool to choose from for the crucial tournament. The Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 9, with India beginning their campaign against the hosts on September 10 before the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on September 14.
