Standing Committee suggests retirement age hike for lecturers to 62

Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: The Standing Committee on Education has recommended for increasing the superannuation period of lecturers from 60 to 62 years. The Committee headed by BJD MLA Bhupinder Singh, the report off which was placed on the table of Odisha assembly on Saturday, proposed it to the government. Moreover, the committee has advised for appointment of regular principals in government aided colleges and to create 15 posts of Regional Director. Similarly, the committee reports in favour of providing grant in aid to all eligible bulk-grant colleges and establish at least one +3 science college in every block. However, the committee has asked the government to reconsider the collection of holding tax from colleges and universities, that the government decided earlier.
