Spy YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra to be produced in Haryana’s Hisar court today

New Delhi, May 26: After the end of her nine-day police custody, YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan, will be produced in Haryana’s Hisar court on Monday.

As per reports, police have already taken Jyoti Malhotra into custody twice before and will present her in court for the third time.

Notably, Jyoti Malhotra is one of 12 people arrested from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh on suspicion of spying. She ran a YouTube channel and was taken into custody on May 16 under the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Reports stated that she had been in contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, who worked at the Pakistani High Commission since November 2023. India expelled Danish on May 13 for allegedly being involved in spying.

She has been questioned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Intelligence Bureau, and military intelligence officers.

Investigations revealed that she had travelled to countries like Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and a few others. According to the police, Pakistani intelligence agencies were trying to use her as an asset.

Reports stated that Jyoti Malhotra stayed in contact with Danish during the four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan that took place after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

During the investigation, police recovered deleted chats from her laptop and mobile phone. Earlier, three of her phones and a laptop were sent for forensic examination. Her four bank accounts are also being checked.

According to an official statement from the Hisar Superintendent of Police, there is no evidence so far that Malhotra accessed any sensitive defence or strategic information. There is also no indication of her involvement in terrorist activities or links to terrorist groups.

However, police confirmed that Malhotra was in touch with people she knew were Pakistani intelligence agents. On May 23, Madhya Pradesh Police questioned her about her visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain in April last year.
