Special rituals in Puri: Shree Jagannath adorned with Bankachuda Besha

Puri, Nov 16: Some special rituals have been performed in Puri Shree Jagannath temple on Tuesday. Lord Jagannath has been adorned with Bankachuda Besha while the Garuda Uthapana and Bichha Sankranti rituals have been performed in the Puri Shree Mandir in the morning. Bankachuda Besha is one of the significant Beshas of Lord Jagannath in which the sibling god comes up as lord Shri Krishna. This Besha is performed in the Jagannath temple on the day of Kartika Sukla pakshya Dwitiya(the second day of the bright fortnight of Kartik).    According to the Bankachuda Besha, Lord Jagannath and his siblings were bedecked with divine apparels. While, Lord Jagannath was decorated as Balakrishna, putting a feather of peacock and Sunakia (a replica of fragranced flower Kia, made of gold) at his right forehead. Acting on it, the Khuntia, Mekap and Puspalak servitors decorated the Trinity with flowers and Khandua patas after the primary Abakash Niti in the morning.Subsequently, Lord Jagannath was adorned with the costume of Balakrishna. According to the Jagannath Cult,Minister of Kansasura had a holy darshan of Sri Krishna with Bankachuda Besha, while he had come to Gopapura to invite Krishna and Balaram for the Dhanu Yatra. Thousands of devotees crowded in the Shree Mandir complex today, to have a darshan of the Bankachuda Besha, believing it a chance to have a glimpse of Shree Jagannath and Shri Krishan at a time.
