Krishna leela in Puri Jagannath temple: triumph over Kansa enacted

Puri, Sept 16: The Krishna Leela ritual in Puri Jagannath temple which began with the celebration of Janmastami on August 29, concluded here on Thursday. In the valedictory ceremony, Lord Krishna and Balaram killed their devil uncle Kansa near the Singhadwara on the afternoon. Today, on the occasion of "Bhadraba Shukla Dashami Tithi" ( tenth day of the bright fortnight in Bhadrab month), the rituals of "Krushna Leela were performed in Shree Mandir. Accordingly, Lord Rama Krishna was carried to "Labanikhia Chhaka" in a palanquin and the "Labani Khia" (consuming cream) ritual was performed there. Following this, the wrestlers ("Mallas") from "Uttarakali Akhada" of Matimandapa Sahi conducted Malla Juddha (wrestling) ritual with the Deities. Thereafter, the ritual of "Kansa Baddha" (the killing of demon king Kansa) was performed at "Balisahi Akhada", in front of "Bada Chhata Matha" near "Singhadwara".
