Special Jail Bhubaneswar gets ISO-9001 certificate

Bhubaneswar, April 22: Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra today handed over ISO -9001 certificate to the Superintendent, Special Jail, Bhubaneswar awarded by the auditing agency Threat SYS Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The ISO certificate has been issued to Special Jail, Bhubaneswar for maintaining excellence in skill development, stress management for the prisoners, occupational abilities of prisoners, food processing units and cleanliness and hygiene of jail. The ISO certification is a visionary improvement technique for improving the standards of working in the jail. The jail, being reforming institution, improvement in above parameters, will help in the process of reforming the prisoners and the society in the long run. The performance of the jail, under above parameters has been audited by an independent body and the standards of working of Special Jail have been found to be high standard for above parameters under 5T model. It has been planned to improve the performance, standard of jail and it has been decided that 10 jails of Odisha will work to the hilt to improve the performance standards to obtain ISO certifications. The minister visited production unit within the jail premises and he discussed regarding branding and marketing of products made by inmates under M.S.M.E. Sector as there is a shortage of quality products in the market.
