Bhubaneswar, May 14: A young man has requested a Bhubaneswar- based private hospital to handover his father's body for last rites in exchange of a kidney of him. His father succumbed to Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at the hospital. However, the hospital authorities are not releasing the body to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for last rites as he has not deposited the remaining hospital dues, said Dileswar Pradhan, a native of Pudapalli village Under Jharsuguda district. According to Dileswar, he had admitted his father Hrishikesh Pradhan in a private Covid hospital before a week. However, Hrishikesh died of the virus on Wednesday. Dileswar has almost spent his all saving for the treatment of his father. In this condition, he has nothing for paying the remaining hospital dues. As a result, the hospital authorities did not release the body to BMC for cremation. Getting no way out, Dileswar has requested the hospital officials to release his father’s body in exchange of one of his kidneys.
