Bhubaneswar, May 27: Volunteers of the NSS at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) have set up a 24-hour Covid Helpline across Odisha to extend assistance to Covid-19 patients and their families. These volunteers have been reaching out to such patients and families over telephone extending a helping hand to address their requirements or solve any problem. “Any person anywhere in the state can reach us for any pandemic related information and we are trying to help,” said Pratik Dash, who has been coordinating the effort. This team, with representative in every district, has been helping people with supply of oxygen cylinders, food or arrange ambulance to ferry the patients to hospital. Besides, the volunteers are also arranging blood and plasma for patients who needed the same, Dash said. Altogether 162 NSS volunteers of SOA had joined this effort who had been split into four groups. “While one group is given the responsibility of collection of data, another group checks the veracity of the collected data and passes on the same to the third group. The third group sent out the same to the volunteers active in different districts to act upon the same,” he said. The last group then connected the person or family requiring help with the person or organization providing the assistance, he added.
