Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIT) is awaiting Odisha Transport Authority’s nod to install a smart radar to check street runners.
A team of researchers from IIT’s Electrical Science Department has developed the smart device which can check manmade road mishaps.
IIT’s Director Prof Barada Ratnam Rajkumar informed that a group of premier techies of the institute was on their research work to invent smart devices to tend road accidents to null.
The team were keen to track the unlawful defenders like over speed bikers, drunken driver and street saunters those create manmade road accidents. Experimenting on the mission the team has developed a Smart Radar which can scan the defenders.
This sophisticated device will be governed by the command of modernized software. It will keep account of the vehicle’s moments every moment ever from the remote control room.
The research Scholars have performed their trial run and found effective to minimise road mishap in spite of heavy traffic. They approximate a project cost of Rs 16 lakh to implement.
IIT Bhubaneswar has sought the prompt approval of the state transport department to install the smart device in the twin cities.
The newly developed device could be an innovative solution to check road accident frequency and tracing the offender, Said Rajkumar. Apart from it, some teams are ceaselessly working for other inventories smartly beneficial for the nation, he added.
