Skipping Mid-Day Meal on Independence Day: 56 Boudh schools served show-cause notices

Boudh, August 23: The District Education Officer (DEO) has issued show-cause notices to 56 schools in Boudh district for failing to serve mid-day meals to students on Independence Day, despite prior instructions from the Education Department.
The notices were sent to 33 schools in Harabhanga block, 15 in Boudh block, and 8 in Kantamal block. Each school has been asked to submit a written explanation within seven days, along with photo and video evidence proving meals were provided on August 15. The response must be submitted before the respective School Management Committees (SMCs).
The DEO’s action follows clear directives issued to all DEOs ahead of the national holiday, mandating the serving of mid-day meals on the day. However, several schools reportedly flouted the order.
Authorities have warned that failure to provide a satisfactory response will invite strict disciplinary measures.
