Malkangiri, Dec 27: In an ongoing encounter with Maoists, the security forces on Monday eliminated six cadres of the outlawed CPI on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.
Acting on a tip-off, the Greyhounds jawans, a police special forces unit of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police departments, launched a combing operation in the Kothagudem area at the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border under the leadership of Kothagudem Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt.
Following this, the hiding red rebels started firing at the security forces which was retaliated back. It triggered an encounter in which six Naxalites were gunned down.
The jawans have recovered the bodies of six ultras who were killed in the encounter. Among them, four cadres were women.
They have also recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from the spot.
The security forces have intensified the search operation in the area after this incident.
