Six killed, four injured as tourist vehicle crashes in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba

Six killed, four injured as tourist vehicle crashes in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba

Chamba, June 18: Six people, including five tourists from Gujarat and a local driver, lost their lives after a tourist vehicle met with a tragic accident in the Bhattiyat subdivision of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, in the early hours of Thursday. Four others, including two children, sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to Tanda Medical College for treatment.

According to police officials, the victims were travelling from Manali to Dalhousie when their vehicle crashed on the Kakira–Lahru road amid heavy rainfall.

The deceased have been identified as Lalit, his wife Mamta, Priyank, his wife Kajal, and their son Diyansh, all residents of Gujarat. The vehicle’s driver, Jaswant, a resident of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, also died in the accident.

Superintendent of Police, Chamba, Vijay Saklani, said heavy rain was lashing the area at the time of the mishap. Rescue and relief teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and launched an operation to assist the victims.

The injured were rescued and shifted to Tanda Medical College, where they are undergoing treatment.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
