Silver plating work of Puri Jagannath temple doors in full swing

Puri, July 4: The work for silver plating of all doors of Jagannath temple in Puri is under full swing. Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Krishan Kumar reviewed the progress of work on Saturday.   The doors will be clad with silver sheets made out of over 2,500 kg silver donated by a Mumbai-based devotee. These are being made out of Burma teak wood, which will be cladded with silver having traditional pattachitra patterns. Two committees, one technical and another of senior servitors have been constituted for supervision of the work. “Woodwork for four doors i.e-Jaya Bijaya Dwar, Beherana Dwar, Kalahata Dwar and Bhoga Mandapa Paschim Dwar is nearing completion. Woodwork to start soon for Sata Paahacha Dwar and Dwars of Adi Nrusingha temple, Maa Bimala temple and Maa Mahalaxmi temple,” said an official.
