Puri, Nov 6: Shree Jagannath Sena, a social outfit on Sunday, demanded to rename Puri as Sri Jagannath Dham Puri. The outfit’s activists submitted a memorandum in this connection, to the 5T Secretary and Jagadguru Shankaracharya in the morning. Sources said, the Shree Jagannath Sena activists met the 5T Secretary VK Pandian during his visit to the Shree Jagannath temple and submitted the memorandum. They appealed to Pandian for the new name of Puri. Subsequently, the Sena officials took the matter to the Gobardhan mutt Shankaracharya, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, and appealed to him regarding renaming Puri after the Presiding Lord Jagannath. Worth mentioning, Srikshetra Suchana, a social organisation had raised the same demand earlier.
