Bhubaneswar: The State Government will provide smart phones to all six lakh Self Help Group (SHGs) under Mission Shakti as part of its digital empowerment programme, announced Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Women Entrepreneurship sectoral session during the Make in Odisha conclave today.
There are nearly 70 SHG members in the State.
“Women empowerment is something that is very close to my heart. No country or state has ever developed without empowering their women,” said Patnaik.
The Mission Shakti was launched in 2001.
“In 2001, we started Mission Shakti as a project. Today it has transformed into a movement. Almost, every second household has a member in mission Shakti,” said Patnaik.
