Bhubaneswar: Women and Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal today said that the the shelter home run by Good News India Dream Centre NGO at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal district, where minor girls have complained of repeated sexual abuse, was not registered and operating illegally.
“The shelter Home was not registered and operating illegally at Beltikiri village in Dhenkanal district. Shelter home in-charge has been arrested. District Collectors have been asked to shut down the illegal shelter home,” said Minister Samal here.
Samla said the 62 inmates have been shifted.
Following allegations of sexual harassment of girl inmates at the shelter home, Dhenkanal police arrested its in-charge Simanchal Naik.
On Friday, a joint team of the Child Development Project Officer, members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the police raided the shelter home.
The girls have accused Naik and Rehman of touching them inappropriately, besides torturing them mentally and physically at the shelter home.
