Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: A spontaneous poet, 75 year-old Purnamasi Jani from Kandhamal district, has never visited school in her life. But she has sung more than 1 lakh spiritual songs for which she was conferred with Padmashree honour this year. Purnamasi Jani hailing from Charipada under Kandhamal district is now a great literary figure. She was born in 1944 in Dalapada village under Khajuripada block to Nilakantha Jani, a farmer and Ranimata Jani, a farm worker. Purnamasi married to Aradhana Jani in her old age and gave birth to six sons. However, they all died prematurely one after the other.This tragic losses turned her spiritual. In a late night of 1969, Purnamasi vanished to the foothill of Tadisaru Hill near Dalapada and the villagers discovered her singing spiritual songs. Since then, she has delivered more than one lakh spiritual songs.,
