​​​​​​​Berhampur,Oct 6:In a gruesome incident, a senior advocate & BJP leader was shot dead in Berhampur on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Pitabasa Panda.

According to sources, Panda was shot by two bike-borne miscreants while he was coming back home at Brahma Nagar.

Panda, who was groaning in pain in a pool of blood was picked and rushed to the MKCG Medical College & Hospital for resuscitation. However, he was received dead.

On being informed, Police rushed to the crime scene and chased for the miscreants but in vain. Later, Panda’s body was seized from the hospital and sent for postmortem.

A murder case has been registered in this connection and manhunts are underway to nab the accused,said the  police.
