New Delhi, Mar 20: Section 144 was imposed in Bodhan town of Telangana’s Nizamabad district after clashes between members of two political factions intensified over the installation of a Shivaji statue. Local BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri said that a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji was planned to be erected at the Ambedkar crossroad of Bodhan town along the border with Maharashtra. At the same time, he alleged that the AIMIM and TRS workers opposed the installation process, raised objections, and tried to get in the way. Following this, the matter took a violent turn with the AIMIM and TRS supporters pitted against BJP and the Shiv Sena activists. To prevent a further escalation of tensions in the area, prohibitory orders of Section 144 were enforced around the proposed venue. Dharmapuri in his Twitter handle said, "The same crooked mindset. Demolish ours--Accomplish theirs! MIM and TRS goons trying to thwart the unveiling of the statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and destroy the statue set up at Bodhan Ambedkar Chowrasta accepted by a municipal resolution." The police are trying to resolve the issue by talking to both groups involved in the scuffle. However, security arrangements have been intensified in the area in order to beat untoward situations.
