Scuffle breaks out between police and locals during mask checking in Balasore

Nilagiri, May 3: In a strange incident, a video of a scuffle that broke out between some police officials and the locals during mask checking at Kacheri market here in Balasore district went viral today. Sources said that the locals were travelling in an SUV when the IIC of Nilagiri police station Prabhanjan Behera along with some other personnel stopped them and slapped a fine for not wearing face masks and violating Covid-19 protocols. In a counter argument, the locals alleged that the police personnel were travelling on the motorcycle without helmet and restrained for giving fine. Subsequently, a spat broke out between the police personnel and the locals following which they involved in a scuffle. As tension erupted at the spot, the police personnel let go of the locals at that time. After the video of the scuffle went viral the police took action have detained the locals for further investigation.
