Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: In a major development in the investigation into the death of senior journalist Navin Das’ son, Manish Anurag, the Commissionerate police today informed that an altercation that broke out between the deceased and his friends led to the death.
Addressing a presser, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said that Manish along with his three friends first visited the Laxmi Sagar area in the evening around 4.30 pm, and then they went to a hotel in Patrapada.
The police arrested three persons, identified as Dinesh Mohapatra (Litu), Mrutyunjay Mishra (Muna) and Amrit Biswal in this connection.
“They had an altercation over bill payment. His friends attacked him outside the hotel causing his death,” DCP said.
“Later, the trio dumped the body in the pond, which is 500 meters away from the hotel. They threw the body in the pond to destroy the evidence,” Dash said.
The police is yet to receive the detailed post mortem report and a special team is investigating into the matter, the DCP said.
