School and Mass Education dept. to dispose off 15325 under-trial cases

Bhubaneswar, April 1: School and Mass Education Department is going to take steps to dispose off all the undertrial cases lodged against the department, said School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash. Answering to the question of BJD MLA, Aswini Kumar Patra, Dash said that as many as 15,325 under trial cases lodged against the department are pending in the Orissa High Court . Out of which 4096 cases have been filed during 2019-20. The Department takes step in consultation with the Advocate General to dispose off the pending cases. Review meetings are chaired by the department's secretary every Sunday to discuss legal issues with the Standing Counsels, Directors and District Education Officers. In addition, all the Standing Counsels have been assigned specific districts to plan for disposing pending cases as soon as possible, said Dash.
