Bhubaneswar, Feb13: The Supreme Court of India has served show cause notice on Andhra Pradesh over Kotia border dispute. Acting on Odisha’s contempt to court petition filed against Andhra, a division bench comprising Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice Aniruddha Bose started hearing in the presence of two officers of Andhra Pradesh. The two representatives of Andhra apprised the bench that election in Kotia is a part of usual practice for Andhra since years. In the process, panchayat election is going on this year too. The advocate for Odisha Vikash Singh pleaded that Odisha abides by the apex court order to maintain statuesque on Kotia. But, Andhra violates it with illegal interference within Odisha’s territory. It’s a breach of the Supreme Court’s Order,Singh argued. After hearing the plea from both sides, the case was scheduled for next hearing on January 19 with a show cause notice being issued to Andhra. The Supreme Court sought a reply before the next hearing.
