Bhubaneswar, August 31:The Nasha Mukt Abhiyan is gaining momentum across Odisha, with around 300 government schools in seven districts under the Central Range participating in the anti-drug awareness campaign.

The campaign is being carried out in pursuance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a Nasha Mukt Bharat and under the leadership of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, with the direction of the Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Central Range, Cuttack, Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, said.

As part of the initiative, Dr. Satyajit Naik on Sunday participated in an awareness programme organised at government schools in Jagatsinghpur district. He was accompanied by Jagatsinghpur Collector J. Sonal, IAS, Superintendent of Police Ankit Verma, IPS, and other senior officials.

The programme aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drugs and substance abuse while encouraging them to embrace a healthy, disciplined and drug-free lifestyle. The officials interacted with students and stressed the crucial role of young people in building a healthier and safer society.

Under the Central Range, the campaign has so far involved nearly 300 government schools across seven districts, creating a broad network of awareness among students, teachers and local communities.

Addressing the gathering, the participating officials underlined that prevention, awareness and active community participation are essential to tackling drug abuse. Students were urged to stay away from drugs, encourage their peers to make healthy choices and contribute to the vision of a Nasha-Mukt Odisha.

The Central Range Police reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying anti-drug awareness programmes, preventive policing and community engagement, with a particular focus on young people. The initiative seeks to empower the next generation to make informed choices and contribute to a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
