Bhubaneswar, July 26: Shravan month, which begins from the first day of the full moon in late July and ends in the third week of August, holds special significance for Hindus. Hindus keep fasting during Shravan, abstaining from eating on Mondays to appease Lord Shiva.
Priyanka Sahani, a young woman from Bhubaneswar has created paintings of lord Shiva on leaves to offer her prayers to the lord. She took an hour to create the artistic offering.
“Today is the first auspicious somvar (Monday) of Sraban Masa (Sawan Mahina). Sraban masa is also most favorite month of Lord Shiva. Devotees keep whole day fasting and worship Lord Shiva on every Monday of Sawan month to seek his divine blessings. The whole month of Shraban is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati,” she said on Facebook sharing the paintings.
Earlier, she created 108 paintings, including miniatures, of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings to celebrate the Trinity’s Rath Yatra this year.
A UX designer by profession, she learnt the craft from her father Bibekananda Sahani.
