Bhubaneswar, Mar 18: The hashtag #SaveJagannathLands has been trending on Twitter on Thursday. More than 70,000 social media users have used the hashtag on the micro-blogging site.
This trend started after the Odisha government initiated the process to sell over 35,000 acres of land belonging to Lord Jagannath. The move is aimed at enhancing the Rs 650 crore corpus fund of the 12th century temple to Rs 1,000 crore by 2023.
“The Odisha government has begun the process to sell more than 35,000 acres of land recorded in the name of Lord Jagannath. So painful to hear that,” said a user.
“The land is property of Temple donated by kings, merchants, devotees out of pure devotion. The land belongs to Hindus,” wroe another user.
“Why only Hindu temples are targeted by this pseudo-secular Government. We don’t want our holy temple land to be sold like a product. Stop this government from selling Jagannath temple lands. Save our Lord Jagannath Temple lands. #SaveJagannathLands” said a user on Twitter.
“Jai Jagannath. Let us bow to lord Jagannath to pray for universal peace , happiness, good health and wealth.May all your wishes get fulfilled and may you always keep smiling,” a user said.
