Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera today blamed the NDA Government for rise in petrol and diesel prices, saying it was happening due to wrong policy of the Government and alleged that it is using petrol and diesel as a weapon to generate funds for elections.
“When the crude oil prices have dropped in the international market, but the prices of petrol and diesel are rising in the country. But the Government which has come to power in 2014 in Centre has used petrol and diesel as a weapon to generate funds for elections instead of taking steps to relax people,” he added.
He said that said that 26 per cent VAT collected by Odisha Government on petrol and diesel is far less than the amount collected by about 13 to 14 other States in the country.
He asked the BJP-led NDA Government at the centre to take immediate measures to check the prices.
