Bhubaneswar: IM Sambit Panda, FM Soumyaranjan Mishra, Manish Kumar and Omm Aditya Khadanga became Champion, 1st Runners up, 2nd Runners up and 4th respectively in the Khordha District Senior Open Chess championship, which concluded here on Monday.
Sambit Panda scored 7 points out of possible seven, FM Soumyaranjan, Manish Kumar and Omm Aditya Khadanga scored 6 points each by pocketing a cash prize of Rs.8.000/, Rs.5,000/, 3500/ and 2500/ respectively.
Pratyush Kumar became 1st in Under 5, Aditya Yuvan Sahoo 1st in Under 6, Kirtish Kumar Sahoo 1st in Under 7, Rudra Pratap Sahoo 1st in Under 8, Vaibhav Sanal 1st in Under 9, Sachetan Parida 1st in Under 10, Shreehan Panda 1st in Under 11, Saishrit Mohapatra 1st in Under 13 Boys Section and pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 500 each.
Elena Mishra became 1st in Under 5, Aadhisree Budek 1st in Under 6, Aadhya Pattnaik Budek 1st in Under 7, Samridhi Mohanty 1st in Under 8, Aapyaa Mohanty 1st in Under 9, Shreyanvee Parhi 1st in Under 10, Shriyadita Pattnaik 1st in Under 11 and Sannidhi Das 1st in Under 13 Girls section and pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 500 each.
Top four players qualified for the Odisha State Senior Open Championship -2025. A total of Rs. Fifty Thousand (Rs. 50,000/), Trophy & chess books were distributed among winners.
