Sambalpur, Mar 14: Primary school teachers of Sambalpur have expressed their displeasure over their deployment for thermal screening at railway stations by the district administration. In view of resurgence of Covid-19 in some states of the country, Sambalpur district administration has decided to beef up thermal screening at all railway stations under its jurisdiction. The administration had issued a notification following deployment of primary school teachers to conduct thermal screening at all railway stations in the district. By this order, teachers were asked to report the Senior Divisional Manager (Commercial), East-Coast Railway. Primarily, 18 primary teachers were assigned to conduct thermal screening at Sambalpur City, Sambalpur Junction, Rairakhol and Hirakud station. According to the order, 18 teachers reported at the four stations and conducted thermal screening of the passengers in three shifts. However, the teacher complained that they are working there in an unsafe condition without any PPE kit, neither from the administration nor from the railway authority. As a result, the teachers have expressed discontent over the decision of the district administration and the teachers’ community has raised questions against the decision of the administration.
