Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: Colonel Balu Bharath, Principal of Sainik School Bhubaneswar, today informed that the Eighth OMC Mini Marathon, organized by Sainik School and OMC, will take place on December 15.
The event is expected to attract over 1,200 participants, including 600 Sainik School cadets, students from Sahodaya and government schools, former students of the school, and their family members.
The marathon will feature different categories for participants, including those from classes VI to VIII, IX to XII, a girls’ category, and the Old Boys’ (OBENS) category. The senior participants will cover a 10-kilometer route starting from the Gandhi Ground of Sainik School and passing through Mancheswar Road, Railway Colony Road, OMFED, NALCO-Kalinga Hospital Square, Jaidev Vihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Apollo Hospital, and finally returning to the Sainik School.
Junior participants will run a shorter route, beginning from Gandhi Ground and passing through Mancheswar Road, OMFED Square, NALCO-Kalinga Hospital Square, and Gajapati Nagar Road, before finishing at the starting point at Sainik School.
The marathon will be flagged off by the Chief Guest, Commodore Mahesh Rahangdale, Deputy Director General of the NCC Directorate, Odisha, along with Colonel Balu Bharath, Principal of Sainik School, Shri Madhusudan Padhi (IAS Retd), President of the Old Boys’ Association (OBA), and Shri Amitabh Swain, the event coordinator. The prize distribution ceremony will take place at 8:30 AM, with Commodore Rahangdale presenting the awards to the winners.
Old Boys’ Meet:
The 53rd Annual Meet of the Old Boys’ Association (OBA) of Sainik School Bhubaneswar is scheduled for December 22, 2024. Many alumni, including those serving in defense, civil services, and corporate sectors both in India and abroad, are expected to attend with their families. This year marks the Silver Jubilee for the 1999 pass-out batch and the Golden Jubilee for the 1974 batch of OBENS.
In addition to the alumni gathering, a health camp, blood donation camp, a basketball match between the current cadets and OBENS, various stalls, and a grand orchestra performance will be held. The OBA President and Secretary have urged all Old Boys to participate and contribute to the success of the event.
