Ghasipura, Aug 14: A young engineering student from Angarua village under Ghasipura block in Keonjhar district has developed a new safety app aimed at helping people during emergencies.

The initiative comes amid growing concerns over whether timely police alerts could help prevent serious incidents. The app, named ‘Safety Bharat’, has been designed by Subhajit Kar, a first-year B.Tech student of Computer Science Engineering.

According to Subhajit, emergencies can occur anywhere and at any time, affecting not only women but also family members living or travelling away from home. Keeping this in mind, he developed the app to provide quick assistance during critical situations.

The key feature of Safety Bharat is its voice-command activation. In an emergency, the app can be activated through a voice command and immediately alert two pre-selected family members.

The app also sends the user’s live location to those two contacts, allowing family members to track the person and seek immediate help.

Subhajit said the primary objective of the app is to reduce response time during emergencies and ensure that people in distress can quickly reach their family members and receive assistance.
