Nischintakoili, Feb 8: A moving car caught fire on Jaipur-Dobandia road near Madhupur here in Cuttack district on Monday.

A major tragedy was averted as a passerby raised an alarm and the occupants including the driver got out of the car on seeing the flame and alerted fire personnel.

Eight members of a family including two children were returning from Jaipur to Purisottampur village in Mahanga areawhen the mishap took place.

The fire that engulfed the car was doused by fire personnel.

However, it is yet to be established how the vehicle caught fire.
