Rs 5 crore duped from NHM account in Sonepur, Crime Branch initiates probe

Sonepur, May 1: More than five crore rupees have been allegedly duped from the National Health Mission (NHM) account of Subarnapur district headquarters hospital. The Chief District Medical Officer has lodged a complaint with the Crime Branch Cuttack after informing the matter to the district superintendent of police. As per the complaint, the CDMO Dr Dillip Kumar Panda was verifying the statements on monthly expenses of NHM accounts on Friday. He found anomaly with the statement and the withdrawal. He found a shortfall of Rs 5,01,50,000 in the account. The amount was found to be transferred to a particular account. However, the details of the account holder could not be established. At the same time, who transferred the whole amount and why, became a question for the hospital authorities. Consequently, he informed it to the district Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, he lodged a complaint at the Crime Branch, Cuttack in this connection. Investigation is underway to trace out the accused behind the deal.
