Rayagada, May 3: The iconic Maa Majhighariani Temple in Rayagada, is set to undergo a major transformation under a Rs 36 crore redevelopment project approved by the state government, aimed at enhancing pilgrim amenities and enriching the overall spiritual experience.
The project includes the construction of a new temple complex, three grand entrance gates, a modern tonsuring center accommodating 50 devotees at a time, and a large dining hall capable of serving 250 people simultaneously.
Additional features include the development of an approach road for improved accessibility, 26 shops for puja essentials, and a dedicated office for the temple trust.
Spanning 6.30 acres, the project is expected to be completed within 18 months and forms part of the Odisha government’s broader initiative to promote religious tourism and safeguard cultural heritage.
Upon completion, the upgraded Maa Majhighariani Temple is expected to attract a larger number of pilgrims and symbolize a seamless fusion of tradition and development.
