Rs 3219 crore to resolve poor network connectivity in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said the centre would invest Rs 3219 crore to resolve the poor network connectivity in Odisha. “Yes, to resolve poor connectivity, we have sanctioned 3,933 new sites for Odisha. Investment ₹3219 Cr. Over next 12 months, this chart will change with Mahaprabhu Jagannath’s ashirwad,” tweeted the Minister. Vaishnaw was replying to a tweet of Suparno Satpathy, who shared an infographics showing that as many as 6,099 villages in Odisha lack mobile connectivity and internet services. Odisha has highest number of villages in the country without mobile connectivity followed by Madhya Pradesh (2,612), Maharashtra (2,328) and Arunachal Pradesh (2,223). Besides, Chhattisgarh has 1,847, Andhra Pradesh 1,787, Meghalaya 1,674 and Jharkhand 1,144 villages that lack mobile connectivity.
