Rs 2,222 cr electric bill pending with consumers, 745 organisations move court

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: State power outfits have Rs 2222 crore pending electric bill on consumers, Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra told the Assembly. Answering a question of Talsara MLA Bhabani Shankar Bhoi on Friday Mishra said that electric bills worth Rs 1509 crore are pending on the consumers under Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPSODL). Similarly, Rs. 348.95 crore are pending under the jurisdiction of Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL). At the same time, consumers under Tata Power Western Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPWODL) have to pay an outstanding bill of Rs 140.25 crore. Apart from the private company operated zones, North Eastern Electric Supply Company (NESCO) has to get Rs 223.79 crore outstanding electric dues. Meanwhile, 745 major defaulter commercial establishments have moved court appealing to waive off the arrears, said the Minister.
