Puri, Jan 18: A royal ritual named Pushyabhisek has been performed in Puri palace on Tuesday. The Pushyavishek Niti was carried out in the morning on the occasion of Pushya naxatra. However, the royal function was celebrated in the absence of Puri  Gajapati, Divyasingha Deva. His representative, designated as Mudirasta performed all the rituals related to the function on behalf of the Gajapati. According to the tradition, the Pushyabhisek Niti(ritual) is performed on the Pushaya Naxatra in the holy month of Magha. On the occasion, the royal sword of the Gajapati is worshipped and the Gajapti is given a flowery crown to place on his head. Accordingly, the Mudirasta offered the Royal sword to the priest of the palace for an annual worship. Earlier on Monday, the Sadhi Bandha Niti was performed by the servitors in the Jagannath temple as the primary ritual related to the Pushyabhisek Niti.
